A Company Based on Fanatical Client Service
Millbrook Real Estate Company traces its origins to Quill Corporation, founded in 1956 by Jack Miller. Starting in his father’s chicken store with a single phone, Jack built the business on customer service, integrity, hard work, and strong management. Joined by his brothers Harvey L. and Arnold Miller, Quill grew into a $630 million company.
These same values form the foundation of Millbrook Real Estate Company and continue to guide its operations today.
After Quill was sold to Staples in 1997, Jack and Harvey Miller launched Millbrook Real Estate Company by redeveloping the 37-acre Quill headquarters site in Lincolnshire/Buffalo Grove into the Millbrook Business Center. Between 1997 and 2004, they developed six Class A office buildings totaling 660,000 square feet with in-house property management. Growth continued in 2005 with the most recent acquisition in 2016 adding a total of 1.9 million square feet to the portfolio. The company has since expanded into the Philadelphia market with three acquisitions totaling about 700,000 square feet.
Today, Millbrook remains committed to the same principles established over 70 years ago—integrity, service, disciplined management, and a long-term focus on tenant satisfaction.
Today, Jack and Harvey Miller remain actively involved in the company's strategic direction while having transitioned day-to-day leadership to the next generation. Management responsibilities are now led by their grandchildren, Justin Lloyd Miller and JT Bernstein, along with Jack's grandson-in-law, Garett Shiner. This leadership transition reflects Millbrook's commitment to preserving the family's values while positioning the company for continued growth and long-term success.
